Tauxemont

tauxemont

Tauxemont is a unique community tucked between Ft. Hunt Road and the GW Parkway south of Morningside Lane which is characterized by homes that blend into their natural surroundings.  There are no sidewalks in the community and the lovely mature trees that predominate provide a forested haven from the bustle of Northern Virginia life.  The community was founded in the 1940s by a group of families from Arlington who were looking for space to raise their growing families.  Building the community was very much a collaborative effort.  The architect of the nearby Hollin Hills neighborhood headed the project and was the original president of the community association.

The community remains close knit even today and the community building (home of Tauxemont Cooperative Preschool) is a central gathering place for meetings, holiday get togethers and social events.  Residents also enjoy the community’s parks and tennis courts and water supplied by the community’s two wells.
